2015 5.0 Crankshaft position sensor relearn. Hello everyone, this is my first post. I had the code for crankshaft position sensor, P0339. I am pretty sure I can physically replace the sensor myself, but I have read there is a relearn for this sensor. There are several threads that were started but none have a final answer.
The crankshaft and camshaft sensors tell the engine where your Mondeo’s crank and cam are located in their 360° revolutions. If they stop reporting this data, even momentarily, your car will not know when to fire the spark plugs, and it’ll stop running. The mass air flow sensor can also go bad.
When a P0016 OBD-II generic code is triggered, it alerts the driver that the camshaft position sensor (CMP) for bank 1, which detects camshaft rotation, is not corresponding to the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) signal. The CMP relays the information to the vehicle’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

I suspect that fitting a new sensor bracket with the bellhousing in place will be unnecessarily difficult because it sounds like DMF replacement will demand its removal anyway. Peter. F-Super

The CKP sensor is also an inductive pulse generator, like the CMP which scans 36 minus 1 cast protrusions on the flywheel. Minus one means that one of the protrusions is missing. This missing protrusion is located at 90º before top dead center and is used by the powertrain control module as a reference mark for the crankshaft position.

April 14, 2020 by Jason. P0344 is an OBDII diagnostic code. It is a generic code, which means that it has the same meaning for the Ford Mondeo as it would any other vehicle. If your Mondeo has this code, it means that the PCM (powertrain control module) has detected that the camshaft position circuit is sending an intermittent signal. The crankshaft position sensor is located behind the timing cover and above the crankshaft gear. the timing belt my have to be removed to access the bolts on the sensor. Where is the crankshaft the sensor is positioned right at the top of engine directly above the cam cover as such. should be one 8mm head bolt holding it in place easy enough to get out . but you need to remove the cam cover fitting the new sensor. the new sensor should have a small protusion that buts up to the back of the cam sprocket webs. that gives the correct clearance then pinch bolt up. the protrusion wears off.
