DF047: EGR valve stuck in open position. DF059: EGR Valve position control. DF158: EGR No1 water pump control circuit malfunction. The technician said that the first two are not too much of an issue but the water pump control circuit could be. A rattling engine. This is one of the more common but straightforward engine problems for this model. On 1.8 litre petrol Insignia cars, the engine has been known to rattle while driving. The culprit is usually a faulty or loose bracket on the air box. Replacing or tightening the bracket should resolve the issue. The EGR problem is well known and documented. As Mixman says unless they have some proof they can’t really do anything but that does not mean they need to see the EM light or any code. If you have seem the EM light come on and the car has been into limp home mode that would /should be good enough for a VX dealer.
This guide is relating to “Spill pipes” or Leak off pipes” which when defective cause poor or no starting on Vauxhall DTI engines. This is a very common fault and should be one of the first areas to look at when the DTI refuses to start. It is also the cheapest place to start as new leak off pipe costs around £2.99 from most motor factors.
Unfortunately engine emission lights merely let you know there is a problem with something. To know what you need a code reader. You mention filter in your title, so it could be a DPF problem, if it is the engine light it could be EGR valve, turbo issues, blocked air pipework, injectors etc. 2006 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 design. The code problem is related to the EGR valve but not necessarily the valve itself. There is a high input in valve position sensor that can be the sensor ---wiring short to positive and ECM. Check the connections for moisture and are not shorting out. Check that the wiring is not touching any hot parts of the motor and has burnt through. WPWuz0.
